APW - Illinois, Grade 89, 17J, 18S, 3oz coin silver OF recase with beautiful engine turning and floral engraving detail, offset gold hinges, fancy blue and white enamel SS dial with extensive gold foil decoration, gilt hands, SW-LS, two-tone checkerboard pattern gilt and nickel damascene, s#3224584. An extraordinary dial, fancy enamel Illinois signed dials of any style are rare and more colorful examples such as this in flawless condition are particularly rare.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, crown lifts very easily out of engagement when winding if not given a touch of downward pressure while turning, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, excellent two-tone color, barrel bridge with a mismatched blued screw; flawless dial though with a few minuscule pinpoint as-made spots in the finish to the white central portion with the most notable of these being inside 10; fine hands, minute is somewhat short and has some bend near its midpoint and finish loss to its tip; case shows virtually no wear, a light patina, a grouping of small nicks to band around 7:30, no dents or dings, superb crisp engine turning and engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows hardly any wear; good glass crystal.
